Report by Mark Stear:
At Acton CC on Tuesday 14th July the CCC Rep team hosted the Melbourne Crusaders who were playing their 22nd game in 28 days.
CCC lost the toss and were inserted to bat first in a 50ov match. Red ball.
Viren Nain 1 nicked off early. Zaid Faleel 16 looked good before being run out by his partner. Left handed Muhammad Hameed 40 (Wanstead CC) played very well before being caught behind.
Acton CC's captain Huzaifa Yousafzai 34 played a disciplined innings but the Crusaders bowlers were in control. CCC captain Bilal Butt (Loughton CC) scored an entertaining 29 batting at No 10. However CCC sadly didn't use their 50ov and were all out for 170 in 42.5ov. A big factor in the Melbourne Crusaders run chase.
Melbourne lost a wicket first ball of their innings a perfect yorker from Omar Faleel.
Left handed B Donellan 59 played extremely well on a spinners pitch. Captain J Lemire 30 and T Murphy 46no plated sensibly but Yash Lakhani 10ov 4-23 and CCC captain 2-38 off 7.4ov kept the CCC team in the game. Crusaders won. 173-7 off 36.4ov.
Good game and match hosted well by Acton CC. Few speeches and presentations after the match included Crusaders organiser Swan Richard's. The relationship between the two teams continues to thrive.
