Essex 2s at Billericay CC on Monday 13th July elected to bat first in a 50over match. Brown fast outfield. Captain Reuben Thain 18 and Simon Fernandes 10 opened and faced some disciplined CCC bowling from seamers Casper Mason 1-18 off 6ov and Toby Porter 1-16 off 5ov. Omar Abram 4ov 1-10.
Captain Darren Ironside introduced spinners Ashish Padki 10ov 0-32, Stephen Croft 8ov1-37, Jan Gray 8ov 4-32 and himself 2ov 2-4.
Aided by some good catches including D Ironside 4 and decent ground fielding a young Essex 2s team struggled to push on the score.
Jack Benkenstein 34 and Saad Barbara 44. Final total 152 all out 43ov. 3 maidens.
CCC openers Thomas McLeod 22 and Edward Wharton 43 (5 x 4s, 2 x 6s) put on 67 for the first wkt.
Good sensible start. Batting at No 3 Captain Darren Ironside 39no and Usman UL-Haq 32no saw the CCC team to a comfortable victory 153-3 in 35.3ov.
Marley Smith 2-11 off 4ov. Jack Beckenstein 1-27 off 8ov. The CCC experienced Premier League players won the day.
