The Key Club Initiative

As part of our overall five-year plan, the Conference has placed a strong emphasis on three areas of activity designed to benefit Cricket Clubs and their cricketers.

These are:

  • Local networking of existing clubs and their park-playing neighbours
  • Player pathways to representative matches
  • Ensuring the demise of Sunday cricket is halted and reversed

In order to make theses aims into a reality we need to communicate our proposals to all member and non member Clubs in our region. We made a start in late September with a presentation to Watford and Three Rivers Cricket Development Group who were represented by member Clubs and the County Board.

T20 Challenge

Our proposals for the inauguration of a T20 CCC Challenge for 6 locally based teams to play 3 x T20 matches per day over 5 Sundays during the summer, with a semi/finals day at the 6th venue, was well received.

CCC Advisory

The Key Club Initiative agenda also encourages clubs to use the CCC Advisory service (advisory@club-cricket.co.uk) for any queries they may have regarding all aspects of Club Cricket administration, on-field and off-field activities, disputes and local council issues.

Nominations for Men's Women's and Men's U21 Representative Matches

Heavy emphasis is also placed on the ability of Clubs to recommend players for our representative matches. CCC plays senior matches throughout our region against quality opposition during the season, and in 2012 we have overseas tours to Oman and Jersey. Our Women's representative side played its first match in 2011 against the MCC and more matches are in the diary for 2012, as is our programme for Under 21 teams.

Fixture Bureau

Our Fixture Bureau continues in 2012 with the addition of a Ground Share opportunity for Clubs whose Sunday and mid-week fixture list allows for clubs to take advantage of their facilities. This will operate free online and for £13.00 + VAT by telephone.

Host Clubs for Key Club Meetings

We are now looking for Clubs to act as hosts for an evening where we will invite as many local Clubs and park-playing teams as we can for a Key Club Initiative meeting so that CCC can act as the catalyst for networking talent in the area and organising localcompetition.

Please contact Robbie Book at advisory@club-cricket.co.uk if you would like to make your club available.
