TUFFERS HELPING TO CHANGE YOUNG LIVES THROUGH THE POWER OF CHARITY CRICKET CALENDAR

Phil Tufnell, former England cricket international has put his support behind a 2016 charity cricket calendar produced by youth sports charity, The Change Foundation. The charity, formerly known as, Cricket for Change, hopes to use funds from sales of the ‘Wherezat’ calendar to create and develop the first ever blind and visually impaired cricket team for young people under the age of 12, an initiative supported by The International Cricket Council Europe. The charity was instrumental in setting up the England blind cricket team over 15 years ago as well introducing the game to many young people in the UK and around the world.  

Phil Tufnell, Ambassador for The Change Foundation says, “This has been a brilliant idea! It will make a great present for any cricket lover as well as helping to create life changing opportunities for blind and visually impaired young people”.  Andy Dalby-Welsh, Acting CEO of The Change Foundation added: “We were delighted to have been chosen by Wealdstone Corinthians CC to work on the calendar together. As a former member of the England Blind Cricket team, I know how much Blind Cricket can help in improving the lives of blind and visually impaired young people. With the grateful support of ICC Europe this initiative presents the chance for young blind and visually impaired players to get life changing experiences giving them independence, confidence and new friendships through cricket is tremendous”.

The ‘Wherezat’ calendar features a series of unique set of images (all taken by Nick Adams) of players from Wealdstone Corinthians Cricket Club in memory of a club member, Mike Matthews who passed away last year following a long battle with cancer playing cricket in and amongst iconic landmarks in London. This particular image features cricket being played at the heart of British politics, No. 10 Downing Street (Pictures by Nick Adams).
